See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut.

Social Work

Why dealing with social matters in the church?

A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.

Luke 10:30-35

The church is both the place where we share the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ AND the place where we provide support and assistance to the most deprived.

Therefore we make the following services available for our neighbors.

Social Duty

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in.

Matthew 25:35

Four social workers will meet you by appointment. Do the persons in difficulty have access to all aids (child support, unemployment benefit, diverse pensions, family allowance and welfare) they are entitled to? If not, we provide them guidance and assistance as necessary toward the competent services to assert their rights. Depending on the situation, we may assist the person to get food aid, clothes, furniture, etc.
